The problem for french philosophers of being heideggerian. (Thanks to Angel for the idea).
(“voilement” and “dévoilement”, which are the french translation of Verborgenheit and Unverborgenheit, literally mean “cover/uncover with a veil”).

Heidegger's black notebooks aren't that surprising

Once again about Schwarze Hefte. I’m pretty busy with all these new heideggerian questions in this period.

Best article on the current polemic around the publication of Heidegger’s notebooks. Definitely worth a read.

“Stéphane Zagdanski answers to an article about Heidegger’s antisemitism”

—

Message from Stéphane Zagdanski to Paul Hockenos,

Dear Paul Hockenos,
Thank you for quoting my text “Heidegger bewitched” in your article. I’d just like to add some precisions:
I never thought (nobody could) that Heidegger wasn’t an antisemite in his privacy, like millions of other Europeans and Germans at this time.
I said that his thinking couldn’t be anti-Semitic for the reason that antisemtism is a delirious ideology (I wrote a whole essay about it), and has nothing to do with thinking. I also criticized Trwany’s idea of a “contamination” of the great thinking of the Being by vulgar anti-Semitic ideology (and antisemitism, even disguised in theories and ideas, is always very vulgar).
And, last but not least, I criticized Peter Trawny for having been a very serious and deep expert of Heidegger’s philosophy for so many years, and having been unable to see this odious contamination he now discovers and reveals to the world! He should choose: either he didn’t know what Heidegger’s philosophy was made of for so many years, either (and that is what I think) he now is completly wrong when he says that the Being is contaminated with antisemitism in Heidegger’s whole works.
Even if Heidegger indeed writes in his black notebooks that Jews have no access to Being, he said so because, according to him, Judaism is fondamentaly based upon platonism through Philo of Alexandria (he writes it very clearly in his Beiträge).
This doesn’t mean that Heidegger was furiously nazi or anti-Semitic, but only that he didn’t know nothing about the reality of Judaism and Kabbalah, and that he sincerely (and stupidly) thought that Judaism and Christianism (he often writes “judeo-christianism”) were, considering the Being, exactly the same thing. Here was his big and stupid mistake. But we knew already that Heidegger was not Gershom Scholem nor Martin Buber…
Best regards.
Stéphane Zagdanski

P.S. Of course, you can send this message to Mr Trawny, whom I don’t disrespect, but whith whom I deeply desagree.
